Case Study: West Lothian College
Rebrand – logo, stationery, print, signage and exhibition stand
The college wanted to modernise their branding as part of a plan to raise their profile and improve their image with potential students in the West Lothian area. Research had shown that many did not think of Livingston as an obvious place to study and were leaving the area to continue their academic or work-related studies. With clear objectives, the rebrand project was put out to tender and The Write People was chosen to carry out the work at the end of a rigorous selection process.
Working closely with the in-house marketing team, we gained a full understanding of the target audience the college wanted to attract. This included school leavers, young people looking to progress on to higher education and those wanting to gain or update work-related qualifications. We set out to create a brand that was modern and dynamic. We presented a range of creative concepts to the marketing team, including a design based on the distinctive outline of the three arches that form part of the college roof. This concept was chosen and developed into the logo that is used today.
The new branding provided a springboard for promotional campaigns that saw new student numbers increase by 11% at West Lothian College in the 2013-14 academic year. We supplied new designs for a range of promotional materials in support of those campaigns, including the annual prospectus, exhibition stands, flyers and infographics. Our relationship with West Lothian College has gone from strength to strength and we have now worked together for over 10 years.
